What is Dental Insurance and how does it work?

Dental insurance is a contract between the employer and the employee and your dental insurance company. The negotiations are worked out between your place of employment and your dental insurance company and not your dental centre.

Covered Benefits and Non Covered Benefits

Unfortunately some of the services you will require or want will be covered under your dental insurer. Our goal is achieve and maintain optimal dental care. This is not necessarily the goal of your dental insurance company.

Dental Insurance companies rarely cover 100 percent of dental services. In many cases 50 percent coverage is all that is allowed for major services. Many insurance companies have a maximum limitation each year. Once this limitation has been reached, your dental insurance company regardless how essential the services may be to your overall dental health will cover no other services. As a concerned partner in your overall dental well-being, we would not want to comprise your care based on the restraints placed by your dental carrier.

How can we help?

We will do everything we can to help you understand the contract between you and your dental carrier. We will help you to make the most of your dental benefits. Our office will file your dental insurance form electronically for you to achieve the maximum reimbursement that your are entitled to.

Some insurance companies take longer than others for reimbursement. If necessary our office will contact your insurance company to help in this matter.

Predetermination Policies

Many of the insurance companies require a predetermination for specific procedures prior to treatment. Most treatment can begin before receiving authorization, however patients need to understand that in the event the insurance company refuses to pay, you will be responsible for the fee. All fees will be provided prior to the commencement of treatment so that you are aware of the exact cost.
